School administration and Special Education – Behavior Edition: How administrators can be an effective part of the special education team in responding to and assisting students for better behavior management.
This workshop will begin by reviewing behavioral aspects of several different areas of special education including Autism, Emotional/Behavior Disabilities, and other developmental disabilities that apply to students in a mainstream and self-contained/resource learning environment. Second, this workshop will review basic information regarding why behavior occurs and how that may be effected by specific disabilities. Third, “discipline” strategies will be reviewed and will be compared to strategies with other strategies specifically or individuals with special needs and learning differences. Throughout the session, the focus will remain on the role of the administrator and how the administrator can be an incredibly powerful part of the special education student’s success.
